Ranger wrestling takes third at Portage Central
Ranger wrestling spent their Friday morning at Portage Central high school. As well as four other teams including Portage Central, Portage Northern, Rockford, and Otsego. Rangers took 3rd overall.
Senior Adam Heneveld dominated the mat on Friday. Adams first match was a 30-second pin. He got a quick 2 point takedown and put his opponent on his back for the pin. In his second match, Adam won 12-1. Adam took him down early and rode him out the entire match. Gaining Adam 8 back points.
FHC and Portage Central were tied with both points and pins. Seniors Nolan Ott and Isaac Torrey both had to get pins because FHC was down by 12. Nolan and his opponent both didn’t score in the first period. In the second period, his opponent chose to start down. Nolan was able to keep his opponent down and was trying for a cradle. With 30 seconds left, Nolan threw a hard crossface and cradled him into a pin. Senior Isaac Torrey took his opponent down twice then went for his pin. With both Nolan and Isaacs pins the teams were tied. It was Isaac’s two takedowns that put FHC ahead and able to win.
FHC wrestling has a match January 5th at Forest Hills Northern. The match starts at 5 pm so come out and support Ranger wrestling.
