Boys swim and dive has tough loss to East Kentwood 107-79
Last year, the boys swim and dive team took on East Kentwood in its season-opening dual meet. The Rangers were able to come out strong and end with a victory, with the final score being 177-138. Unfortunately, FHC was not able to continue the winning streak this year and lost 107-79.
Despite not having the outcome that they wanted, the Rangers still had many successes throughout the night. Many of those successes came from the underclassmen, especially in diving. Freshmen Will Becker and Cole Hysong were able to place third and fifth, respectively, in the 1-meter diving event. Will’s final score came out to be 190.40 and Cole’s was 174.75.
Sophomore Avery LeTourneau was able to place first in three events for the swimmers: the 200-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:49.68, the 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 0:50.01, and he was a member of the winning 200-yard Freestyle Relay. Junior CJ Hier was able to place second in the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard Butterfly.
The Rangers had a promising opening meet despite the loss the East Kentwood. This loss does not go toward their OK White Conference record because this was not a conference meet. FHC will now take on Northview on Tuesday for their first conference meet.
