Player Profile: Katie Tellier
Name: Katie Tellier
Grade: 10
Sport: Girls JV Basketball
How long have you been playing basketball?
“I have been playing since third grade, but this is my second year playing for the school.”
Why do you play basketball?
“I play to meet new teammates every year, play with different coaches, and to just better myself in the sport.”
Who has been the biggest inspiration in your basketball career?
“Brandon Yoder. I’ve been playing for Coach Yoder since sixth grade, and he has really grown to be a father figure to me even though he and his family moved away after last season.”
What is your personal goal this season?
“To better myself in my free throws and increase my [made free throw] percentage from last year to this year.”
What are some team goals this season?
“To work better together because at this point, we’re all still kind of going at each other whenever we make a mistake or anything. I definitely think that’s one thing we can improve [on], along with keeping positive attitudes.”
Talk a little about your time being on the FHC basketball team
“Last year we were definitely stacked; there were a lot of sophomores, and we all got along really well, which made us have a great time. Coach Yoder and Coach Jenkins coached us last year, and they were really motivating for us. Introducing Coach Maddie and having her and Jenkins coach together is really great. Maddie brings a very positive aspect to things and is always cheering for us and helping us on our bad days; she’s grown to be like a mom to us. I am also the oldest on the team this year, which puts a lot on me to step up and be a leader because last year I was just a freshman on JV, so this year a lot has definitely changed.”
