Boys swim and dive places sixth in the Zeeland Invitational
Last night, the boys swim and dive team competed in the Zeeland Invitational. The Invitational consisted of nine teams; all of these teams are ranked in the top ten in the state for divisions 1, 2, and 3. With every team ranked in the top ten, the Rangers has some fierce competition and were able to place sixth. Even though FHC placed sixth, they were only 18 points away from second place.
The boys swim and dive team was able to capture many event titles. Senior Henry Schutte placed first in the 50-yard Freestyle and the 100-yard Butterfly. The 200-yard Freestyle Relay team, which consists of sophomore Avery LeTourneau, seniors Charlie Krug and Adam Sands, and Henry, also captured an event title with a time of 1:28.82. Along with placing first in the 200-yard Freestyle relay, Avery placed third in the 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 0:56.07, and he placed sixth in the 200-yard Freestyle. Junior CJ Hier finished fourth in the 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 0:56.23.
In diving, senior Ryan Talbot led the divers with a third place finish by scoring 204.90 points. Freshmen Cole Hysong and Will Becker placed ninth and tenth, respectively.
The Rangers showed sheer determination in this meet, which will help them in the meets to come. This Invitational does not count toward FHC’s OK White conference record, so their record remains at 1-0. The team’s next meet is the Forest Hills Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 5. The team goal is to continue tradition by winning the upcoming Invitational and continue to show improvement in skills and times.
