Varsity A wrestling has an impressive weekend to go 2-2
Over the weekend, the Ranger wrestling team had some successful performances that stood out in the tournament. Forest Hills Central traveled to Mount Pleasant to participate in the Mount Pleasant Coke Invitational. Sophomores Bryce Hysong and Sawyer Bosch led the team with records of 4-0 in the tournament.
Bryce wrestled at 130 lbs and Sawyer at 171. Three individuals finished with a record of 3-1: senior John Samsell, junior Wyatt Engler, and sophomore Caden Jacobs. The team as a whole went 2-2 throughout the weekend. The wins came against Grand Rapids Catholic Central and Owosso. It was an intense day, as every dual counted in the end for the Rangers.
The Lady Ranger wrestlers had some phenomenal performances as well. The girls competed in the Sandusky Tournament, and sophomore Rachel Schenck finished 5-0, making her overall record 10-0. Both juniors Hannah Becker and Sarah Schenck took runner-up and advanced their records to an impressive 8-2. The champions of the tournament were seniors Jayla Williams and Mackenzie Marthens.
It was a great weekend for Ranger Wrestling, and the wrestlers look forward to competing in the OK White Quad at Greenville on Friday.
