Competitive Cheer takes home third place at second OK White conference meet
While competing in their second OK White conference meet of the season, the FHC Competitive Cheer Team struggled. After three rounds of stiff competition, they weren’t able to place as high as they had hoped; nonetheless, they still had a solid performance. The Rangers ended the competition in third place—loosing to Cedar Springs and Forest Hills Northern—out of the five total teams, with 656.98 total points.
In the first round, the Rangers came out confident. However, they didn’t start off as well as they wanted, only receiving 184.18 points; this round ended up being their lowest scoring round of the competition on the night. Heading into the second round, the Rangers came out with intensity, and it certainly showed. The Rangers concluded the round with 392.98 total points; however, even though this was their best round, they cracked under pressure in the third and final round. Even though the third round wasn’t their best performance of the night, the Rangers still pulled through with a solid 264.0 points, which helped them in the end to place third.
Several of the Ranger Cheerleaders had a successful night, despite the unsuccessful night. Senior Grace Conn helped lead the team in all of the rounds. Alongside her was senior Maija Dickens and junior Meredith Carpenter, who both performed very well last night.
The Forest Hills Central Competitive Cheer teams’ next competition will take place this Saturday, Jan. 26 at the LMCCOA Invite at Caledonia High School.
