How long have you bowled?
“I have bowled since my junior year of high school, so [I’ve been] part of the school team for two years. I have played for recreational purposes for as long as I can remember because who doesn’t bowl as a kid?”
What are you most excited for the rest of the season?
“I’m excited to compete in conferences and regionals in the coming weeks. I believe our team truly has been getting better throughout the season, so when conferences roll around, we should be able to do well.”
What’s special about being on the bowling team?
“The bowling team is one of the most welcoming, uplifting teams that the school has. Bowling is a very laid-back sport, so you are able to get to know your teammates and coaches really well in a positive environment.”
What are some personal goals for you this year?
“My goal by the end of the season is to hopefully score over a 200 in one of my individual games. I have only ever reached 185, so I’m pushing for a 200.”
What are your thoughts on the season as it comes to a close?
“This season was one of the most fun high school seasons I have had. I was on a team with all of my friends, and we were able to talk while also bowling. It was such a laid-back environment that was really fun.”
How did you get into joining the bowling team?
“My junior year I decided to quit basketball, so it opened up a lot more free time. I was sitting at a family get together and my uncle, Clark Udell, started to mention the bowling team. So I asked more about it and decided to join with one of my friends, Sydney Payne. We had missed tryouts but were still able to join the team.”
What has been the highlight of the season so far?
“At the Lowell Invitational this year, our girls varsity team was able to place third out of all the teams there. Going into bracket play we were seeded sixth and were able to move onto the next round, placing third overall. This was the first time that the girls team has advanced into bracket play in school history, so we were all very proud.”
What are you going to miss about being on the bowling team?
“I’m going to miss practice every day with an awesome team. I’ll miss hanging out with friends and bowling for fun. Bowling was a huge stress-relief to me in high school, and I really am going to miss it.”
