Girls JV basketball goes 2-1 over the past few weeks
As the ladies continue on in their season, they were able to go 2-1 over the past few weeks against Greenville, East Grand Rapids, and Ottawa Hills. FHC had success due to continuous, strong effort by freshman Julia Carlson and sophomores Ava Metaj, Morghan Tilton, Katie Tellier, and Maddie Knoor.
To start their 2-1 record off, the Rangers went against the Greenville Yellow Jackets and were able to defeat them 43-37 in a high-intensity game. Per usual, the ladies came out with a strong defense and were able to maintain this defense throughout the whole game. Morghan Tilton was able to lead the team by scoring 15 points, along with Julia Carlson scoring 10 and Ava Metaj scoring 8. The ladies were able to continue on their defense into their next game against East Grand Rapids.
The Rangers were defeated by EGR 30-15, but Katie Tellier ended the game with 13 points; Morghan Tilton and Julia Carlson both hit double digits this game, finishing with 10 points each. Sophomores Chloe Teliczan and Rachel Lynch were also able to both score 4 points, and Ava Metaj had 5 rebounds.
Finishing off the ladies’ 2-1 record, they played against the Ottawa Hills Bengals and were able to defeat them 57-10. Julia Carlson, who scores in the double-digits nearly every game, was the team’s highest scorer that night with a total of 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Sophomore Ella Sloat also contributed 3 rebounds to the team’s stats, and Maddie Knoor put up 8 points.
The ladies continue on to play against the Lowell Red Arrows on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Lowell High School.
