Girls JV basketball defeats Greenville 33-23
The JV Lady Rangers played against the Greenville Yellow Jackets and were able to defeat them 33-23. Big contributors to the final score were sophomores Morghan Tilton and Ava Metaj and freshman Julia Carlson.
The ladies were able to start the first half off with a strong zone defense and moved into a man-on-man near the end of the third quarter and into the fourth. Morghan was able to put up a total of 11 points, along with Julia putting up 8 and Ava putting up 5. The ladies led the Yellow Jackets 10-7 going into halftime and were able to pull through with a 10-point win in the end.
Sophomore Katie Tellier was strong in the paint and contributed many rebounds to the team. Ava and Julia worked as a power duo multiple times last night, with Ava constantly looking down the floor for Julia, who made two open layups off of it. Ava also played her best defense by easily maneuvering through solid screens and closing out with quick feet.
The ladies now focus on their last conference game against the Forest Hills Northern Huskies on Thursday, Feb. 28 at Northern.
