Sophomore Bela Gonzalez toed the mound against a potent Northview offense in game one while recording 8 strikeouts with 0 walks. The Wildcats racked up 19 hits, and the Ranger defense committed 4 errors to allow 12 runs for Northview.

The second game of the night saw an offensive explosion from the Rangers, as they were able to push 18 runs across. Freshman Lyra Vandenberg went 3-3 to lead the charge, while Maddy and Remmie both earned multiple hits. Junior Katie Willemin secured a triple, while sophomore Irene Collacchioni earned a hit in her very first softball game.

FHN freshman Alyssa Wierenga dominated in the circle, as she struck out 3, walked 2, gave up 2 hits, and allowed 1 run to score. The Ranger defense was flawless behind her, recording 0 errors in the game.

FHC moves to 1-2 (1-1) on the season and will go on the road to Northview for the third game of the series on Friday. A win tomorrow is key to the Rangers’ hopes at a conference title, as taking the series against Northview would be a big step in the right direction.
