Showing no mercy at the Belding Jamboree, the Lady Rangers JV golf team took home first, second, and third place in a scramble. With plenty of open space on the Candlestone course, the Rangers propelled to an excellent showing, even with the duration of the green.
The match was comprised of a scramble; FHC competed in three different groups.
Freshman Lexi Schnelker, sophomore Alyssa Cheslek, and junior Bela Gonzalez led the Rangers, shooting one stroke under par with 35. “It felt great [to shoot one under par and place first]. My group was playing really well today, we were all very proud,” said Lexi.
Just one stroke behind the first FHC group, freshman Serena Thiede, freshman Ashley Yarnell, and sophomore Bella Wisely placed second shooting 36. The third group for FHC placed third, tying with Greenville and Lowell, shooting 39.
“We can always improve our short game, so that’s something we could work on,” said Lexi, looking into the next match.
The Rangers compete again next Tuesday, October 1st at 3:45 PM at the Jenison Jamboree.
