The freshman girls’ volleyball overall team effort inspired their success on Saturday at the Cedar Springs Invitational. Coming off of a 2-0 record at the OK White Tri, the Rangers went 5-1 this weekend.
“I always tell my players to be athletes and volleyball players rather than just their specific position, and that is exactly what they did,” head coach Bri Tilton said.
FHC defeated East Grand Rapids, Cedar Springs, Catholic Central, Chippewa Hills, and Allendale. They fell to Hudsonville in the tournament final.
Key components to their success were teamwork as well as communication on the court. All day offensively, the Rangers serving was crucial to their numerous victories.
“We really got our offense going and going at a fast speed. Our energy for the majority of the day was out of this world; you could tell the girls were loving every minute out there,” Tilton said.
In the Chippewa Hills match, the Rangers switched up the positions within their line up. Brooke Kushak and Ally Werkema played in the middle position, while Emma Costello and Jaida Coller were the setters with Maya Holser playing on the outside.
FHC looks to the end of its season with a win on Tuesday, October 29th against Ottawa Hills at home.
