JV Volleyball finishes conference slate with comfortable win over Ottawa Hills

Last night, the FHC JV Volleyball team played in its last game of the season against Ottawa Hills. The girls finished out the season remaining undefeated in their conference. They played very well all season and achieved their goal of staying consistent in each game.

In the first set, FHC won 25-8, crushing its opponent early in the set. Sophomores Ava Wilberding and Sophia Galan were consistent on the outside attack in the first set, getting great points for the team. Sophomores Lilly Harsevoort and Julia Carlson did a fantastic job at setting the block and making themselves available offensively. Freshman Kate Hotaling also did a phenomenal job with serve receive passing and digging up balls, which made the Rangers’ defense very solid.

In the second set, the girls won 25-9, beating Ottawa by another large margin. Sophomores Abby Berlin and Kelsey Dantuma provided opportunities for the right side to be available offensively, and they did a great job at cutting the ball into deep corners. Sophomore Sammie Wing and freshman Averie Zsachak ran FHC’s designated plays and delivered sets that would allow the hitters to be successful.

Overall, the girls’ season was very successful; they went undefeated and placed well in all tournaments throughout the season.
