Freshman girls basketball picks up third consecutive conference win over the Lowell Red Arrows
Freshman Maya Holser was once again the key to yet another victory for the freshman girls basketball team in the last game against the Lowell Red Arrows as she went on to put up 32 points in the Rangers’ win of 53-24. The Rangers were able to pick up their third conference win against the Red Arrows, and they moved their overall conference record to 3-0.
Right at the start, the Rangers took control of the game. The first quarter concluded with a score of 10-2 in the Rangers favor, with eight of these points coming from Maya. The other two points were scored by freshman Gracie Vermeulen who totaled six points that night. As the second quarter started, Maya once again was a dominant player in all aspects of the game and picked up 14 more points to add to her night. Freshman Elizabeth Latunski was the only other Ranger to score in the second quarter, and she picked up four points of her own. The Rangers headed into the half leading with a score of 28-4.
The Rangers continued their domination throughout the rest of the game. By the end of the third quarter, they were ahead 40-15, with Gracie, Elizabeth, and Maya being the three Rangers to score in the third. In the fourth quarter, freshman Frankie Sutton had a stellar performance and was able to knock down the Rangers only three-pointer of the night. She also had another basket and took a trip to the free-throw line to shoot for the Rangers.
The Rangers’ next game will be played on Tuesday, January 21 against the Ottawa Hills Bengals. The game will be played at Ottawa Hills High School, and tip-off is at 4:30 pm. If the Rangers secure a win over the Bengals, they will continue their undefeated conference run.
