Sam Werkema and Abby McAlindon guide the Varsity Ski team to a successful weekend at the Caberfae Invitational

Captains senior Sam Werkema and junior Abby McAlindon guided the varsity ski team this Saturday in the Caberfae Invitational. The Rangers competed in both the Giant Slalom and Slalom. Sam placed within the top 15 in both events; Abby placed in the top 35 in both events. A total of 11 teams competed in the meet, a majority came from the Ranger’s conference such as FHNE, Lowell, and Northview. Both the girls and the boys placed 6th in the GS. In the SL, the girls placed 9th and the boys placed 7th.
Coming in first for FHC, Abby clutched a 4th place finish in the Slalom with an overall time of 50.59 seconds. Senior Cakki Meheny finished next for the Rangers. Cakki placed 28th overall with a time of 1:05.20. Autumn Shook placed 3rd for FHC and 38th overall with a time of 1:13.39. In the Giant Slalom, Abby clenched 34th place with a time of 1:12.09. A time of 1:15.11 by Cakki secured second place for the Rangers and 41st overall. Right behind Cakki was Junior Sina Korb. Sina placed 42nd with an overall time of 1:16.40.
In the Slalom, Sam placed 14th overall with a time of 52.47. With a time of 59.11 seconds, sophomore Charley Mehney placed second for FHC and 30th overall. Senior Gabe Carlson placed next for the Rangers and 40th overall with a time of 1:10.15. Sam placed first for the Rangers and 11th overall in the Giant Slalom with a speedy time of 1:05.82. With a time of 1:07.23, Junior Ben Taylor came in second for the Rangers and placed 19th overall. Junior captain Aidan O’Meara placed third for FHC with a time of 1:13.05 which placed him 36th overall.
The Rangers compete next on Tuesday, February 4th at Cannonsburg.
