KCTC

KCTC

Activity name: KCTC

Time commitment: Fifteen hours a week

Why someone should join: “KCTC gives you real-life experiences. You get to take classes in a career that you want to go into. By the end of the year, you can be licensed in certain skills. For me, I will be a certified phlebotomist. You can also dual enroll in classes not offered at Central, like biomedical laboratory science.”

Prior knowledge/experience needed: “You must be either a junior or senior for all but one class, which is only a sophomore class. It happens during the day, so you have to commit three school hours each day. Some classes have prerequisites, but most don’t.”

How to sign up: “Talk to the counselors to schedule a visit so you can enroll for next school year. Sophomores are able to visit as well.”

Fun facts/words of encouragement for someone weary of joining: “It’s really fun. Even though you lose a few hours at school, it’s totally worth it. I’ve made a lot of friends I would’ve never met during KCTC.”

Who to talk to about this opportunity: The Counseling Office
