Renewal Preview Q&A
Movie: Renewal
Producer: Emma Beck
1. What theme would you consider your film?
“I would consider our film a drama.”
2. Can you give a brief overview of the plot of your film?
“Our film is about two best friends who are beginning to go through a rough patch. Our main character, Jacob, starts to take his best friend, Wilson, for granted. And it’s not until Wilson is taken away from him that Jacob realizes how much Wilson Kent to him. So, he wishes he could get a second chance.”
3. What inspired the storyline?
“This was inspired by the fact that sometimes people take their friends for granted and they don’t see what they have and how lucky they [to have something] until it is taken away from them.”
4. Through your film, what message are you conveying to your audience?
“Through our film, we want people to realize that they should be thankful for what they have and always cherish the moments they have with others.”
5. How is your film different than others being shown?
“Our film is different from others because while most of the films show action with guns or psychological unstableness, ours is a more realistic theme that is in everyday life. Our film just takes it a step further to amplify a tragedy changing the mood of our characters.”
6. Can you provide details of your filming/editing process?
“The process of our film was very spread out and we did not film everything in one week. We did a little bit of filming and a little bit of editing over a period of time of about two months. We also had a lot of last-minute shots that we would try to fit in here and there between practices and work.”
7. How did you pick your actors/actresses?
“We picked our actors based on availability and who we thought could be portraying our characters the best.”
8. What can your audience expect to get out of your film?
“Our audience, at least I hope, will leave this film thinking about how they treat not only their friends but other people in general, and hopefully change how they treat them before a tragedy happens, not letting them get a second chance.”
9. What was your favorite part of the creation process?
“My favorite part of processing this would probably be the editing and see how it all came together along with working with my teammates. It, overall, was a great experience to see how we could work as a team as well as the satisfaction in the end of actually getting a movie done favorite part of processing this would probably be the editing and how it all came together along with working with my teammates.”
10. How do you hope your audience will react?
“I hope our audience will like it. I can’t really predetermine how they’ll, react but I hope they like it.”
