JV boys basketball loses to Traverse City Central

In their second game of the season, FHC fell to Traverse City Central by a 12 point margin. Going into the game, the team had expected the game to go well and have an easy going game. However, that was not the case. With a final score of 60-52, the Rangers slowly lost their intensity throughout the night. This game should have been a win for FHC, as they are equally as skilled as the Trojans. Despite the loss, great plays were made by sophomores John Corey and Trevor Lewis.

John and Trevor both stepped up to help the team offensively and defensively. John put up some great three-point shots when the team needed them and really attacked well on the offensive side. Trevor played yet another great game defensive wise; he moved with the ball and had quick feet to stop the attempted shots. Two freshmen also left people thinking after the game: Jacob Ervin and Christopher Battiste. In the first play of the game, Jacob tipped off the ball right into Christopher’s hands. As soon as Christopher got possession of the ball, he raced down the court to score a lay-up for FHC and put the first points on the board for the Rangers.

An off night for FHC gave the Trojans their win. In future practices, the team plans to work hard on focusing more and raising the morale during and before their games. The problem with this game was that the Rangers came out to start with low intensity. In order to really get into a game and to have a shot at the win, the energy and competitiveness needs to be to the max.

The Rangers look to take on the Hawks of FHE on Thursday. They hope to prove themselves in this upcoming game and are going to work hard in the near practices to prepare themselves for this competition. Despite these two losses to being to non-conference teams, the Rangers may have to dial in if they want to see themselves at the top of the OK White Conference.
