On Thursday, April 12 the FHC boys varsity golf team took on competitive opponents such as Northpointe Christian and Rockford at a Jamboree at Thornapple Pointe Golf Course. The top scores for the Ranger boys came from senior Mike Batiste with an 82, followed by sophomore Isaiah Huempfner with an 83, and then senior Jack Lorenz with an 87 and finally, senior Grant Bardelli with a 91.
According to Grant, the course was pretty difficult, but the main issue was the weather.
“It was super windy to the point where I felt like I was going to fall over just walking,” Grant said.
Besides the troubles with the wind, the team performed to the best of their ability but still fell short of their full potential and Rockford and Northpointe won the two flights at the tournament. All of the players are hoping to improve their scores greatly from yesterday and to continue to lower them all the way through the season.
