Boys varsity lacrosse loses heartbreaker to DCC 19-18 in double overtime

Last night the Ranger varsity lacrosse team played arguably the most entertaining and close game of the season so far. Unfortunately the team lost to Detroit Catholic Central 19-18 in double overtime. Although they lost, the Rangers put up quite the battle as the score was neck and neck throughout the entire game. Senior captain Bryce Clay scored 7 goals and had multiple assists. Along with Bryce, junior Tate Hallock had 4 goals, and senior Tobey Hendricks had 3 goals and both had many assists as well. As usual the Rangers played an incredibly aggressive and strategic offense and were able to put on a show with their experience and skill. After a break from playing due to injury, senior Patrick English was back in action last night and scored a behind the back goal which shifted the momentum towards the Rangers.

On the defensive end of the game, senior Andy Trapp was a key player in keeping the game close. He played exceptional defense, utilizing his speed and agility to stay on Detroit Catholic Central’s star offensive players. Junior goalkeeper Jack Nolan had a great game despite the loss. His teammates believe he doesn’t get enough credit for his play in the goal and the countless saves he makes, in not only this game but all games. While the Rangers played great they were lacking an important piece of their team due to injury, junior Logan Wedder. Without Logan, FHC lost 33 out of 39 face offs. This being the Rangers’ first loss, team still has its sights on the playoffs. FHC’s next game is tonight at home at 7pm against Battle Creek Pennfield.
