JV boys soccer clinches the win over Ottawa Hills 2-1

JV boys soccer had a spectacular game against the Bengals of Ottawa Hills. The final score was 2-1 FHC, but it was a well-fought match on both sides of the field. The Rangers were looking to win this game to bring their season to 4-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

The first half started off slow with Ottawa scoring a goal to lead over the Rangers 1-0. Sophomore Ben Taylor tied it up later in the game with a top corner shot that was tipped in by the goalie. Ben played an incredible game, being the first Ranger to score. The next goal was from sophomore Matthew Mahoney’s stellar header, assisted by a corner kick. This goal was very clutch and fell in the net right before they blew the whistle, signaling the first 35 minutes of regulation.

After the half, the Rangers found a way to halt the offensive powerhouse of Ottawa Hills by forcing their shots outside the goal. Neither offense could quite find their rhythm, due to a brick-wall defense on both sides of the field, and a solid goalie as well. Sophomore goalie Alex Dellinger made a few very crucial saves, which contributed the team’s win. Alex played his heart out for the whole game and has been a very important part of the team all season long.

FHC played an overall amazing game and the Rangers plan to get yet another win against the Huskies of Forest Hills Northern on Thursday, September 13 at home. This would push their season to 5-4, and 5-0 in conference play, which would be a huge achievement for the program.
