JV water polo picks up another big win over Grandville 7-5
After a successful weekend at the Jenison JV Tournament, the Forest Hills JV water polo team picked up another win at Grandville on the road 7-5. Freshman Sofia Johnson had a big night with 2 goals, 1 assist, and 3 steals. On the defensive side, sophomore Rachel Schenk came up big with a team-high 6 steals and 2 sprints.
The two teams were battling it out in the first half. Big goals from Sofia, freshman Caroline Bell, and freshman Avery Verlinde helped FH keep a slight lead over the Bulldogs. In the second half, the ladies hung on thanks to some great offense contribution from sophomores Sarah Chesner and Emma Zawacki. The defense also showed up with a great effort in the second half as well by limiting the Bulldogs’ shots on goal immensely from what they’re used to. FH took the victory 7-5.
The win last night puts the girls at 5-2 on the season. With Spring Break off, the ladies now shift their attention to a home game against Zeeland East. If the offense can continue to play with the firepower it did last night, look for another win for Forest Hills upon return.
