Crew team dominates in first regatta
More stories from Sam Tuori
On Saturday morning, the Forest Hills Central crew team had its first regatta, rowing against Forest Hills Northern, Forest Hills Eastern, and East Grand Rapids. The Rangers were able to dominate the water in nearly all categories.
The novice boys 8 boat earned first place, completely blowing the other boats out of the water. All of the varsity boy boats were able to place either first or second, which is incredible seeing as the team has only been able to be out on the water for a little over a week. The boys were led all day by their outstanding senior rowers Mason Fors and Tom Tomsheck, along with others who have helped to make this one of the strongest senior classes the team has ever had.
On the girls side, they rowed just as strong. The lightweight 4 smoked the other teams out of the water, placing first. The novice girls, as well as the senior 8— comprised of another strong senior class—also rowed very well. For the first meet on the water, both the boys and girls teams were able to row incredibly well.
The Rangers’ next regatta is next Saturday in the Grand Rapids High School Invitational at Riverside Park.
