Crew struggles at GR High School Invitational
More stories from Sam Tuori
In the frigid weather on Saturday morning, the Forest Hills Central crew team hit the waters at Riverside Park to compete in the 24th annual Grand Rapids High School Rowing Invitational. The Rangers faced easily their toughest competition of the year, as the opposition consisted of some of the best teams in the West Michigan area: East Grand Rapids, Rockford, both Forest Hills Northern and Eastern, as well as Grand Rapids Rowing.
The Rangers struggled compared to their two previous meets. Both the boys JV 8 and lightweight girls 4 boats were able to secure first place. The boys varsity 8A was able to secure second place. The only other Ranger boat able to medal was the girls Jv 4 boat, which secured third place.
The Rangers will hit the water next on Saturday, May 4, when they compete in the Laddie Cup, hosted by St Mary’s Preparatory School.
