Crew does well against strong competition in Midwest Regatta
More stories from Sam Tuori
Over the weekend, the Forest Hills Central rowing team competed in the ever so tough Midwest Regatta in Zanesville Ohio against 40 of the strongest rowing teams in the entire Midwest.
After the initial time trials and qualifying heats, the varsity 4 girls boat, as well as the varsity boys 4 boat, were able to make it to the semifinals. Both the varsity 8 boats for the girls and boys were able to reach the petite finals, with the girls placing third and the boys placing fifth. The novice lightweight was able to take third overall. The varsity girls boat was also able to make the finals, and they placed fourth.
Although they were not able to secure any first-place finishes, the Rangers were able to more than hold their own competing with some of the best teams all over the Midwest. The Rangers will compete next in the State Championship regatta at Riverside Park next weekend.
