The swim team lost against both Hudsonville and Holland Christian, but they put up a good fight, with several swimmers getting their best times of the year and some winning their races against stiff competition.

The Rangers lost to Holland Christian by just 4 points, with a score of 95-91. They didn’t fare as well against the much bigger Hudsonville team and lost to them 110-76. The girls were facing tough competition, but many of them stepped up and got their best times. Two swimmers even won their races. Senior Sarah Schenck won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.84. Junior Emily Johnson and senior Maggie Zorn dominated the 100-yard freestyle, taking first and second place with times of 55.85 and 58.09. Several of the runners also secured their places at the M.I.S.C.A. meet later this season. Emily qualified in the 100-yard freestyle, junior Sarah Chesner qualified in the 100-yard backstroke, senior Olivia Luplow qualified in the 200-yard freestyle, and sophomore Maggie Hier qualified in the 100-yard fly and the 100-yard backstroke. The Rangers are continuing to improve their times each meet despite some hard competition.

This meet was tough, but with another week comes another chance to improve. The next meet will be another matchup against multiple opponents in Grand Haven as the Rangers look to get their second win this season and improve their times further.
