Last week, the varsity volleyball team faced off against two of its fellow OK White conference members: the Lowell Red Arrows and the Greenville Yellow Jackets. The Rangers were not able to overcome the Red Arrows; however, they did pick up a win against the Yellowjackets.

Lowell proved to, once again, be a very difficult matchup for the Rangers; however, they were able to drag the game out into four sets. Succumbing to the Red Arrows in the first set with a score of 25-12, the Rangers quickly bounced-back in the second set, as they went on to win it with a score of 25-23. The teams headed into the third set all tied up, yet the Rangers couldn’t manage to hang on and fell to Lowell in the third and fourth sets.

Junior Morghan Tilton stepped up her game against the Red Arrows in the setter position, as she concluded the match with 17 digs and averaged about ten assists per set. Alongside her was junior Julia Bouma, who was a key player in the libero position for the Rangers. Leading the team with 24 kills, Julia also had three assists, and ten serving attempts.

Looking for a win after their close loss to Lowell, the Rangers were set to take on the Yellow Jackets next. The Rangers won this game in three sets, not allowing any slip-ups for Greenville to counter on. The first set went well for the Rangers as they went on to win 25-9. Similarly, in the second set, they dominated and won 25-18, and took victory once more in the third set with a score of 25-14.

The Rangers had several key players in their win; one of whom was senior Lauren Schofield. Lauren had ten kills for the Rangers alongside her was sophomore Sophie Shields who also had ten kills and seven serving attempts against the Yellowjackets. Morghan once again had a stellar game and finished with over 20 assists.

The Rangers will be taking on the Forest Hills Northern Huskies on Thursday, October 24. The game will be played in the Huskies home gym at 7:00 pm.
