Boys varsity wrestling finishes the regular season off with wins against Shelby and Mona Shores
With the regular season coming to a close, the varsity wrestling team went 2-0 on the day with wins against Shelby and Mona Shores. Against Shelby, the Rangers pinned eight out of 14 of the wrestlers to take home the win 59-18. Mona Shores also put up a fight, but the Sailors were conquered 64-12.
Brothers freshman Blake Jacobs and junior Caden Jacobs both picked up pins against their Shelby opponents and gave the Rangers six points each. Junior Robby Frazer had arguably the most entertaining match of the night, as he defeated his opponent in the first criteria tie-breaker.
Against Mona Shores, junior Isaac Gurley defeated his opponent via pin, contributing six points to the overall score. Seniors Wyatt Engler and Tommy Hendricks wrestled at 171 and 160, respectively, and both won their matches. Wyatt pinned his opponent, and Tommy won his 17-9 in a very aggressive match from start to finish.
These matches bring the Rangers to an overall record of 19-7, while also keeping their third place standing in the conference. The Rangers are set to compete in the OK White Conference Tournament on Friday, February 7.
