FHC wrestling moves to 3-0 at Mona Shores
The Ranger wrestling team made its way to Mona Shores high school last night. The team had matches against the Fruitport Trojans and the Mona Shores Sailors. FHC successfully won both matches, with scores of 53-16 against the Trojans and 54-29 against the sailors.
Senior Nolan Ott won a hard fight against Fruitport, winning with a score of 9-7. His real battle was up against Mona Shores. He fought his was back from a 4-1 deficit in the first period by pinning his opponent in the 3rd period.
“Nolan is a pinner,” said Coach Brad Anderson. “He sees opportunities to pin in every position whether it’s neutral, top, or even bottom.”
Senior Keegan Moore also had a successful night. In both his matches against the Trojans and the Sailors, he got two first period pins. Coach Anderson believes Keegan is back on the saddle after his 3rd place win last Saturday at the Kent County Championship.
“Keegan is relentless and is also always looking for the pin,” Anderson said.
Freshman Mason Childers had a phenomenal night wrestling as well. He beat the 5th ranked 112 pounder from Fruitport. After the first period, the score was tied at 0. In the third period, Mason scored one point for an escape and two points for a takedown.
Ranger wrestling has improved to being 3-0 as a team. The next competition is the Portage Central Duals on Friday, December 29th. Come out and support Ranger wrestling.
