Cameron Penner

Cameron Penner, Junior Writer

Cameron Penner is a freshman beginning his first year on The Central Trend. He would describe himself as a generally laid-back guy, making jokes out of anything, has a rock-hard six-pack, a chiseled jawline, and is 6″11 in height (which is basically just 7″0). He enjoys all things musical, spending a lot of his time listening to or playing music. Cameron is a percussionist, playing for the Ranger Drumline, along with being in the band’s percussion ensemble outside of marching season. He also plays the alto sax, piano, and guitar, and likes to sing in the shower. Cameron has been writing for almost as long as he can remember. The first poem he remembers writing was about the seasons transitioning from fall to winter. It got 44 likes on his mom’s Facebook account; since then, writing has been a big part of his life.

Cameron’s favorite music artists: Tyler, The Creator, The Beatles, Billy Joel, Elton John, The Smiths, Matt Maltese, Mazzy Star, Nirvana, Weezer, and Frank Sinatra.

His favorite season: Fall; he loves wearing cozy sweaters and being outside during that time of year. Crunchy leaves and warm coffee on a late Saturday evening are what he loves most about it.

His favorite past Halloween costume: The Lion he was when he was around four or five. His sister was a cow. They were a great duo.

His favorite specific activity: Talking about the most random things on the phone/in person with that very specific someone.

His favorite place on earth: 2365 S Shore Dr E, Frankfort, MI 49635.

The song(s) that he likes to stare out the car window listening to: What? That is such a dumb question… (Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls or Fade Into You by Mazzy Star.)

The amount of 8ball wins he currently has on Game Pigeon: 171. Send him an 8ball. 616-460-4374. He dares you.

My rose is music

Cameron Penner, Junior Writer December 8, 2022

I always seek out the melodies of life. A vacant silence is a torturous place for the mind, no matter what setting I happen to be in. Alongside a series of tears that run down my cheek as I weep, or if...

This time of year has changed

Cameron Penner, Junior Writer November 14, 2022

This time of year will never change.  This time of hot chocolate and pajamas. This time of transforming the house into Home Alone and praying the Grinch won’t steal the gifts. This time of everlasting...

The Car studio album cover by Arctic Monkeys, released Oct 21, 2022

Arctic Monkeys’ “The Car” proved to me that I shouldn’t waste time listening to their other music

Cameron Penner, Junior Writer November 10, 2022

In a perfect musical world, lead singer Alex Turner would have a better voice.  Only being exposed to very few songs by Arctic Monkeys—such as “505” and “Only Ones Who Know,” I didn’t have...
