The magic in television show Legacies is fading

The magic in television show Legacies is fading

A world of magical witches and blood thirsty vampires—a world where werewolves are normal and monsters are a regular occurence. This place might be fictional, but the allure of a mystical world is one that we are all too familiar with.

Over the course of many years, television has provided me with an escape from real life problems. It has allowed my brain to wander and wonder: ‘what if I was to live in this magical world? What part would I play? Who would I be?’ Legacies was no exception to that wonderful relief, or so I thought.

CW’s Legacies season two aired October 2019, and came to netflix a while after that. Legacies is a spin off of the  popular show Vampire Diaries as well as The Originals. It stars a few of the same characters from the older shows, but it also provides viewers with a profound sense of nostalgia, because many of the main characters are the children of our past favorite people from the other two series in this universe.

Season one of Legacies was a thrilling adventure. It had a mixture of love, friendship, and lots of danger, so when season two came out, I was elated. My hopes were set very high, but unfortunately, season two fell short.

The plot seemed to be more of a poor extension of season one rather than exploring new possibilities for season two. The monsters kept coming in the same unwavering pattern, and the once thrilling aspect of the show started to fade into a dull, predictable series of events.

The acting skills were applaudable, however it was not enough to make up for the lackluster script that was presented. Each episode grew more and more similar till they blended together into a cringey timeline rather than a riveting experience like season one was.

The monsters kept coming in the same unwavering pattern, and the once thrilling aspect of the show started to fade into a dull predictable series of events.

To me it seems that although this mysterious universe of magic and monsters will always be one of my favorites to return to when I need to escape the pressing issues of real life. Mystic Falls might be on its last string, and it may be time to say goodbye.

With eight seasons of Vampire Diaries, five seasons of The Originals, and two seasons of Legacies, it seems these characters will have forever left their mark on our world. That being said, I think it’s time that Legacies should quit while they are ahead and make a graceful exit rather than stomping out with an overload of poor reviews.

I feel this would be better for everyone so that the show doesn’t get bad press, and also so that loyal viewers such as myself aren’t left ending the rollercoaster with a lousy taste in their mouths.
