“I’ve had chickens since I was about six years old. Normally, we get twenty chickens at a time, and they usually come a week after they hatch and are still small and super cute. Most times, they live for about five years; it just depends on the chicken and whether or not other animals get to them. Sometimes our own chickens produce their own generations, so I get to see the whole process of the chicklets hatching. I’ve also had a couple of roosters, and this year we actually got our own turkeys, which was actually really cool. Basically, my family has always had some out-of-the-ordinary animals.”
