The girls varsity golf team visited Candlestone Golf Course yesterday when it embarked on the Belding Jamboree. The girls finished in second place after a well-fought battle that included all six golfers finishing with scores in the 50-stroke range.

The team finished with a collective score of 178, falling 14 strokes behind FHN; the Huskies concluded with a final score of 164. The girls did, however, finish atop of the other five teams, with Lowell and Greenville placing directly below them. Both Lowell and Greenville ended at 194, but Lowell took third place after winning the tiebreaker. The last three places were rounded out by Cedar Springs, Northview, and Belding, which finished at 226, 235, and 239, respectively.

The individual scoring by the Rangers was led by seniors Ally Ringler and Mandy Ehrlich: both golfers achieved scores of 42. The next lowest scorer was junior Maddie Knoor who shot a 45, and she was followed up by senior Haisley Turnquist, who shot a 49. Other important team performances came from juniors Ava Metaj and Taylor Baumgardner. Ava shot a 51, while Taylor finished not far behind with a score of 52.

This is one of the most consistent Ranger golf teams in recent memory, not dipping under second-place in its first ten events of the year. The next event the girls will travel to will be the Northview Jamboree at Thousand Oaks on September 25th.
