Last night the Rangers competed in their first round of district play and took on the Greenville Yellowjackets. The Rangers had already defeated Greenville twice throughout the season so far, and they were able to walk away with a third win after last night.

The first set went smoothly for the Rangers as they defeated the Yellow Jackets with a score of 25-17 in the first set. Junior Morghan Tilton had a stellar first set for the Rangers and contributed 23 setting attempts to the Rangers, as well as seven assists. Another player who stood out in the first set was junior Julia Bouma. Julia received six of Greenville’s serves and had four digs by the time the first set concluded.

Headed into the second set the Rangers continued their streak and beat the Yellow Jackets 25-8. Once again, Morghan was a stand out player for the Rangers in this set. She finished off with 16 setting attempts, and nine assists by the time the second set came to a close. As the third set began, the Rangers intensity never faltered, and they went on to win 25-14. Senior Lauren Schofield had five digs against the Yellowjackets servers in the third set. Alongside her sophomore, Grace Hudkins had five serving attempts, one ace, and a dig in the final set.

After the Rangers win in their first round of districts, they will be playing the Forest Hills Northern Huskies in the next round on Thursday, November 6. The game will be held at Cedar Springs High School at 5:00 pm.
