Starting the season off strong, the girls varsity ski team took home third out of ten teams on Tuesday in its first race of the season. The team had two skiers place in the top ten and four more place in the top forty.

Courtney McAlindon started her junior year off with a second place in the Giant Slalom (GS), with a time of 26.93 seconds in her first race and 26.56 seconds in her second race. Following close behind her was her sister, freshman Abby McAlindon, who placed seventh in the GS with a time of 27.87 seconds in her first race and 28.01 seconds in her second race.

Along with the McAlindon sisters, junior Grace Kline managed to grab 19th place with her first race having a time of 28.95 seconds and her second race having a time of 29.75 seconds. Also placing were seniors Anna Tomsheck with 29th place and Cece Long with 24th place. Junior Myah Leavenworth also had impressive times and placed 27th in the GS.

The girls varsity ski team will race again on Jan. 13 at Norm’s GS Championship.
